Urban Remedy E. coli Lawyer Update: 76 Salads and Wraps Recalled due to Potential E. coli contamination.

The California based producers and retailers of ultra-fresh, organic meals, Urban Remedy, announced a voluntary recall on 76 of their salads and wraps due to spinach that may have been contaminated with E. coli.

The Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) stated that the 76 salads and wraps are still unaccounted for. Paul Coletta, the companyโ€™s CEO, said: โ€œIn an abundance of caution, we are voluntarily recalling a limited number of our products that contain potentially contaminated spinach.โ€ Coletta explained that although no illness have been reported as of present, they are taking โ€œpreventative actionโ€ to keep their customers safe. According to the FDA the spinach which was supplied to Urban Remedy tested positive for a small amount of Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria.

Coletta said the company will no longer buy spinach from the supplier.

The contaminated products were sold in Urban Remedyโ€™s retail stores, at Whole Foods Markets, online, and through other California retailers. All remaining affected products have been removed from store shelves and from the Urban Remedy website. Coletta stated:

โ€œAll of the potentially affected products have a use-by date of September 15โ€ฆ If you purchased any of these products, please donโ€™t eat them โ€“ throw them out, or return them to the store for a full refund.โ€

The recalled products are:

Escherichia coli (E.coli) are bacteria found in the environment, foods, and intestines of people and animals. E. coli are a large and diverse group of bacteria. Although most strains of E. coli are harmless, others can make you sick. Some kinds of E. coli can cause diarrhea, while others cause urinary tract infections, respiratory illness, pneumonia, and other illnesses.

โ€œThe vast majority of all E. coli illnesses are foodborne related.ย  Inevitably, infections start when you swallow STEC; in other words, the infection begins when you get tiny amounts of human or animal feces in your mouth. Unfortunately, this happens more often than we would like to believe.โ€
