Tailor Cut Produce Salmonella Lawyer Update: 26 Reported Salmonella Cases Reported from Delaware.
The Salmonella outbreak linked to Fresh cut fruit has continued to grow. Although the
recall of Tailor Cut Produce of North Brunswick, NJ
has been initiated, it seems like some schools and health care facilities may still be using the recalled products. On December 20, 2019, Delaware health officials reported an extra 26 confirmed cases of salmonella linked to the outbreak. The reported cases were children from ages 4 to 17 from the New Castle County who ate some of the recalled fruits at school.
Delaware health officials have confirmed that the school districts who served the recalled products are the Red Clay Consolidated School District, Colonial School District, and the Community Education Building in downtown Wilmington. The students began feeling symptoms in dates ranging from the third week of November to the first week of December. According to health department officials information on some of the affected cases is still unknown; except that they reside in New Castle County.
Tailor Cut Produce issued their recall on December 7, 2019, after
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC), along with the
U.S. Food and Drug Administration
(FDA), and
public health officials
linked the multi-estate Salmonella Javiana outbreak to the fresh-cut fruit produce. According to Delaware health department officials, the cases in New Castle County were linked to the multistate outbreak through a standardized laboratory and data analysis method called whole genome sequencing (WGS). Health officials have stated that although the risk of consuming potentially contaminated fruit has passed, there is still a possibility that additional cases may be linked to the outbreak.
