Taco Bell Hepatitis A Lawyer Update: Taco Bell Employee Diagnosed with Hepatitis A.

The Mount Rogers Health District in Virginia announced on May 6, 2020, a potential Hepatitis A exposure to customers who ate food from the Taco Bell located on 153 VA-107, Chilhowie VA. According to the report released by the Mount Rogers Health District a Taco Bell employee was diagnosed with Hepatitis A after working at the restaurant location from April 14 to April 30, 2020. No cases have reported as linked to the incident as of yet, but the Virginia Department of Health is advising consumers to stay vigilant for symptoms of Hepatitis A.

The Director of the health district Karen Shelton, M. D., stated that the Taco Bell location in Chilhowie has always been compliant with safe food handling practices, and is currently cooperating with the health department to properly handle the Hepatitis A incident that transpired. Dr. Sheldon also said that in order to reduce the number of illnesses, consumers who ate food from the restaurant, in the time frame during which the contagious employing was working, should get vaccinated for Hepatitis A within two weeks of exposure. Free vaccination will be offered at the Smyth County Career and Technology Center, 147 Fox Valley Road, Marion, on Friday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with no appointments necessary.

A Taco Bell Quality Assurance Food Safety Manager stated โ€œWhen our franchisee of this Chilhowie, VA restaurant learned that one of the team members was diagnosed, they immediately started working with Taco Bell and health officials to protect the health of employees and customers. The restaurant was thoroughly sanitized and all team members will be offered vaccinations.โ€ย

Hepatitis A is a viral infection caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV) and results in severe liver disease and sickness. Symptoms of Hepatitis A normally include debilitating fatigue, diminished appetite, stomach pain, nausea, and jaundice, a yellowing of the eyes and skin which can be followed by itching and rashes. According to Ron Simon, a national Hepatitis A Lawyer, a person can only acquire acute HAV once, as antibodies produced in response to Hepatitis A infection last for life and protect against reinfection.ย
