Important: This page describes unverified consumer reports that Ron Simon & Associates is reviewing. As of June 15, 2026, no public health agency has confirmed a Salmonella outbreak, and no agency has publicly linked any illness to Banh Mi Cali. Nothing on this page should be read as a statement that Banh Mi Cali caused any illness. We are investigating these reports to determine whether a claim exists.
What We Are Investigating at Banh Mi Cali
Ron Simon & Associates is reviewing online reports from diners who say they became ill after eating banh mi from Banh Mi Cali, a Vietnamese sandwich shop at 3565 W Walnut St, Suite H, in Garland, Texas. The reports cluster around July 2025 and describe symptoms consistent with food poisoning. One diner reported a Salmonella diagnosis.
To be clear about where this stands, no public health agency has announced an outbreak, published a case count, or stated that Banh Mi Cali made anyone sick. We are looking into these accounts to find out whether they can be confirmed and whether anyone affected may have a claim.
What Diners Are Reporting
In several reviews posted in mid to late July 2025, diners describe gastrointestinal illness, including fever, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, after eating combination banh mi from the Garland location. One detailed account describes multiple members of a single family becoming ill after a purchase on July 19, 2025, with one family member reporting repeated emergency-room visits. In a later update, that same reviewer, who identified as a registered nurse, reported that testing pointed to Salmonella and that a complaint had been filed with local health authorities.
These are consumer reports, not findings by a health agency, and we have not independently verified them. We include them because they are the reason this matter is being investigated, not as established facts.
What the Official Record Shows
The City of Garland publishes restaurant inspection scores. Banh Mi Cali received a routine inspection score of 73 out of 100 on June 11, 2025. That is a poor score, but it was recorded about five weeks before the reported illnesses and is not, on its own, evidence of an outbreak. Garland’s public inspection index does not show a later inspection or a citation tied to the July reports.
We could not locate any outbreak notice or investigation finding from the CDC, the FDA, the Texas Department of State Health Services, or Dallas County Health and Human Services connected to this restaurant. If you have information that an agency did investigate, we would like to hear from you.
Why Salmonella Testing Matters
Salmonella is one of the most common causes of foodborne illness in the United States. Symptoms usually begin within 6 hours to 6 days after exposure and often include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. Most people recover on their own, but infants, older adults, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems can become seriously ill, and some infections spread to the bloodstream.
For a possible claim, a laboratory test that identifies Salmonella, together with records showing when you ate and when you got sick, can make the difference between a report and provable evidence. That is why prompt medical care and stool testing are important if you believe you were affected.
Your Legal Rights
If you ate at Banh Mi Cali in Garland and became ill, you may have a food poisoning lawsuit. Whether a claim exists depends on confirming your illness, tying it to the food you ate, and the evidence available. Because no agency has confirmed an outbreak here, documenting your own diagnosis and exposure is especially important.
