Publix has joined the list of stores that is recalling eggs due to possible salmonella contamination. Walmart and Food Lion are also on the list.

Seymour, Indiana, after food poisoning was discovered in some consumers. The recalled eggs had been distributed from the companyโ€™s farm in Hyde County, North Carolina, and had been delivered to retail and restaurant consumers in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

There have been 23 reports of illnesses directly related to the recalled eggs. Six people have been hospitalized. Salmonella contamination can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection withย

Additional brand names under which the eggs have been sold include Country Daybreak, Food Lion, Nelms, Waffle House, Crystal Farms, Coburn Farms, Sunshine Farms, Glenview, and Great Value.

Rose Acre Farms has recalled over 200 million eggs for food safety reasons, because of their potential to be contaminated with salmonella. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) analysis of the samples revealed that the same rare strain ofย

Braenderup that caused the illnesses was present at the Hyde County Egg facility, tying the facility to the outbreak. Consumers who have purchased any of these eggs should not eat them but should either dispose of them properly or return them to the store.
