Pig Ears Salmonella Lawyer Update: Brutus & Barnaby Issue Recall of Pig Ear Dog Treat Products

Pig Ears Salmonella Lawyer Update: Brutus & Barnaby recall their Pig Ear Dog Treat Products.

As the multistate outbreak of salmonella caused by Pig Ear treats continues to grow another company,

Brutus & Barnaby

, has issued a recall on their Pig Ear products.

The dog supply company Brutus & Barnaby issued a recall on all their variations of Pig Ears for Dogs on August 27, 2019. The recall was due to a potential salmonella contamination of their pig ear products. The bags of Pig Ears were distributed throughout all states via Amazon.com, Chewy.com, Brutusandbarnaby.com and the brick and mortar Natures Food Patch in Clearwater, Florida. The recalled product can be identified by the companyโ€™s trademarked logo and says โ€œPig Ears 100% Natural Treats for Dogsโ€.ย  According to the dog supply company the pig ear treats were available in 4 different sizes 8 count, 12 count, 25 count, and 100 count.

Brutus & Barnaby has ceased the production and distribution of the pig ear product as

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) and the company continues their investigation as to what caused the problem. Consumers who have purchased Brutus & Barnaby pig ears are urged to destroy any remaining product not yet consumed and to contact the place of purchase for a full refund.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the contaminated products or any surfaces exposed to these products. Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. In some rare cases salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
