The Mustard Seed Restaurant Hepatitis A Lawyer: Health Alert Issued Due to Potential Hepatitis A Exposure in a New York Restaurant.
The Chautauqua County Health Department of Mayville, NY, issued a health alert warning to consumers who dined at The Mustard Seed Restaurant in 31 E Main Street Fredonia, NY, due to a potential Hepatitis A exposure. Those who dined or ordered take-out from the restaurant from April 1 to April 19, 2021, may have been exposed to the Hepatitis A virus. No cases of people experiencing symptoms of Hepatitis A have been reported at this time but the county health departments have begun to take precautions.
Christine Schuyler, County Public Health Director, said in a press release “Anyone who may have eaten at this restaurant during this timeframe should check their immunization status and if not already vaccinated against hepatitis A, come to our free clinic this Saturday or visit their healthcare provider if they are experiencing symptoms.” Schuyler also stated that The Mustard Seed Restaurant has been working along with both state and local health department officials to conduct a thorough inspection of the restaurant. The Chautauqua County Health Department cleared the restaurant to reopen its doors on May 20, according to the inspection at this time the restaurant is safe to order from.
The Chautauqua County Health Department has advised all consumers who ate at the restaurant during the time frame of exposure to stay vigilant for symptoms of Hepatitis A. Schuyler also said in the press release “While the risk of hepatitis A infection is low, we must act prudently to prevent the spread of this very contagious disease.” The Health Department has begun offering the free post-exposure hepatitis A vaccine at certain locations, sadly for those that dined at the restaurant before May 10th, 2021 it is already too late to get the post-vaccine and should instead monitor themselves for Hepatitis A symptoms.
Hepatitis A symptoms can begin to show themselves within 50 after exposure to the virus. Normally people who exhibit symptoms of Hepatitis A experience fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark-colored urine, clay-colored stools, joint pain, or jaundice. Ron Simon, a National Hepatitis A Lawyer, stated:
“Many people are diagnosed upon arrival at a hospital because the medical staff can see yellowing eyes or skin. This condition, called jaundice, is associated with a liver that is under attack. Medical staff will immediately order a hepatic function screen, or complete metabolic panel (CMP) to evaluate AST, ALT, and bilirubin levels. A person with acute hepatitis will have extremely elevated liver function numbers.”
