Savannah Food Company Listeria Lawyer Update: Cornbread Dressing and Bread Stuffing Recalled Due to Listeria Risks.

Savannah Food Company has announced a recall on their Cornbread Dressing and Bread Stuffing Products due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was issued because the frozen diced eggs used in the products were supplied by

Almark Foods

who recalled their eggs products due to the potential contamination. Savannah Food Company announced their recall on January 21, 2020, after being notified by Almark Foods about the contamination and their association with the Listeria outbreak linked to their egg products.

The potentially contaminated products were distributed through wholesale distributors to restaurants, delis, cafeterias, and foodservice establishments in the following states: Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Arkansas. The recalled products have use-by dates which range from April 2021 and December 2021. The “Use by date” is located the package label and side of the corrugated case. The only products affected by the recall to date are:

The Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) announced the recall to the public on January 23, 2020. According to the FDA, no illnesses have been linked to the recalled product at this time. They have also advised consumers who purchased any of the recalled products to either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. As the expiration dates for the products are until next year consumers should be vigilant as the products may be in their pantries without their recollection.

Listeria monocytogenes

bacteria can cause a serious infection called

Listeriosis

in severe cases; the infection can spread into the nervous system and cause systems such as headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or convulsions. When left unchecked a listeriosis infection can cause death, just like it was seen in the recent listeria outbreak linked to Almark hard-boiled eggs where the death of a Texas resident was linked to the outbreak. According to a

,

, victims who have symptoms such as fever or stiff neck should consult a physician to inform them about the potential listeria exposure and receive a blood or spinal fluid test.
