has announced a voluntary recall on several of its wild-caught yellowfin Tuna products due to potentially elevated levels of histamine, which can cause

The recall was officially announced by the company on October 1, 2019 after 4 people were reported with scombroid fish poisoning due to eating the recalled products. MiCal Seafood stated that it feels as though the 4 reported cases may be isolated incidents but it issued the recall to take every precautionary measure to ensure its customers’ health and safety. The contaminated tuna products were sold to customers in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, California Michigan, Rhode Island, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saint Maarten, and Grand Cayman.

The Food and Drug Administration

(FDA) is advising people who experience symptoms such as burning sensation in the mouth, facial swelling, rash, itchy skin, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea to seek immediate medical attention for treatment a soon as possible. According to the FDA, the contaminated product should be kept in a quarantined location until returned to the supplier or Mical Seafood, Inc. for a full refund.
