Hostess Brands, LLC Salmonella Lawyer Update: Hamburger and Hot Dog Buns Recalled to Potential Salmonella and Listeria Contamination.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a voluntary recall of Soft White Hamburger Buns and Soft White Hot Dog Buns by the company Hostess Brands, LLC, on August 16, 2021. Hostess issued their on announcement a few days before the FDA stating that a select few products would be recalled due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes and salmonella contamination. The company was informed about the potential contamination by Best Harvest Bakeries, a co-manufacturer of certain Hostess hamburger buns and hot dog buns for Hostess Brands.
Hostess Brands, LLC has stated that since the recall announcement no illnesses have been reported as linked to the recalled hamburger or hot dog buns. According to Hostess, the Soft White Hamburger Buns and Soft White Hot Dog Buns were distributed all over the United Stated to distributors, convenience stores, and other retail stores. Each of the products can be recognized by the item UPC 888109110987 for the hamburger buns and 888109110970 for the Hot Dog buns, a full list of the products batch numbers can also be found in the FDA recall announcement.
Consumers have been advised to refrain from purchasing the potentially contaminated products with UPC or batch numbers that match the recall announcement. The products have varying best by dates that range from August 13 thru October 4, 2021. According to the Hostess, the only products affected by the potential contamination thus far are the ones manufactured by Best Harvest Bakeries. Consumers who might have purchased the contained products are advised to either dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase.
Both Listeria monocytogenes and salmonella bacterium can cause severe gastrointestinal issues that can sometimes be fatal for young children, the elderly, and others with weakened immune systems. Those who believe they might have ingested any of the recalled products are being advised to stay vigilant for symptoms such as young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
